Obituary of James Carter Glascock
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Carter Glascock died on Thursday, March 14, 2013. He was surrounded by his family and he was at peace. He was married to Sara Ann Bryan Glascock for 59 years, and together, they raised 12 children.
Dad grew up on Lookout Mountain and never lived anywhere else. He was born in 1923 and was present when the cornerstone for Lookout Mountain Elementary School was laid. He was one of the first students enrolled at LMS and from there he went to Dickinson Junior High. While at Baylor, which was still a military school, Dad played the bugle. Following his senior year at Baylor, Dad enlisted in the Army Air Force, completed officer candidate school and learned to fly. He eventually amassed hundreds of hours as first pilot in B-17’s.
Dad worked for Fletcher Bright for many years as a real estate appraiser and he earned the MAI designation. He then opened his own office and he continued to appraise but he also helped Mom sell houses. Together, they sold hundreds of homes and remained very much in love to the end.
Dad loved us, too, to the very end. He was a great man, husband and father. We will miss him very much.
He is with God and is together again with Mom, Sister (daughter- Lucy Shober) and Wren (granddaughter- Wren Shober). He is also with his parents, James Arthur and Lucille Carter Glascock and his sisters, Ann Temple and Lou Norman.
His surviving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren include Jimmy and Adele Glascock (Sara, Cullom, Carter, Will, Lew, Polly and Ellie), Henry and Haven Glascock (Henry, Jr. and Lauren with Hank, III and Andy), Bill and Sue Glascock (Willie and Lizzie), John and Doris Shober (Juney and Timothy), Paul and Cathy Glascock (Carter and Frank), Tim and Kim Glascock (Michelle), Ray and Monica Szczepanski (Edward, Christopher, Thomas and Mike), Miller and Ann Epps (Miller, Jr., Jimmy, Brian and Robby), Savage and Peggy Glascock (Savage, Jr., Temple, Riggs, Max and Rody), Battle and Lee Glascock (Emily and Battle, Jr.), Chris and Nancy Glascock (Chris, Jr., Molly and Monica) and Gus and Ramona Glascock (Anna, Sam and Charlie).
