Obituary of Charles Holt Westbrook

Charles Holt Westbrook, Sr. died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 6, 2013 while playing golf, a game he loved all of his life. A graduate of Georgia Tech and the University Of Virginia Darden School Of Business, Mr. Westbrook was formerly with Trust Company of Georgia (Suntrust Banks), president of Brock and Blevins, Astroturf Industries, and Sherman and Reilly Wire Mesh. He was currently an associate professor of Management and Finance at the University of Chattanooga, and CFO and director of Scale Finance. He was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, a former member and officer of the Vestryand various ministries, and a member of the choir, which he loved and enjoyed. He was a past chairperson of Episcopal Commission of Southeast Tennessee (ECSET), a past president of the Fairyland Club of Lookout Mountain, and past president of Area Association of Visual Artists (AVA). Mr. Westbrook was preceded in death by his parents, William Love Westbrook and Margaret Stone Westbrook of Atlanta. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Garnett Westbrook, his son, Charles Holt Westbrook, Jr. of Atlanta, his daughter and son-in-law, Garnett Westbrook (Will) Henderson and adored granddaughter, Margaret Westbrook (Brook) Henderson of Atlanta, his brother, William Lawrence (Kim) Westbrook, Atlanta, much loved nieces, nephews and cousins in Atlanta, and the family of his wife in Virginia whom he counted his own, including Virginia Garnett Carrington, and Lewis Henry Garnett IV. Memorial services will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd, 211 Franklin Road, Lookout Mountain, on Wednesday, April 10 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Robert Childers officiating. The interment of ashes will follow the service. The family will receive friends at Talbird Hall at the church at noon before the service. Following the interment there will be a celebration of his life at his home. The family requests that contributions be made to Metropolitan Ministries, 1112 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37404 in lieu of flowers.
