Obituary of Patricia Wiltsie Holmes

Patricia WIltsie Holmes was born July 1, 1941 in Greeneville, Michigan, the daughter of Brett D. and Mabel (Mame) Wiltsie Holmes. After graduation from Woodbury College Patti and Mame moved to Los Angeles where Patti had a very successful career in the financial and insurance business. One of her favorite stories was that of having Bob Hope as a next door neighbor. Upon retirement she moved to Lookout Mountain to be near old friends that she had met during her colorful career. She immediately joined the choir of the Church of the Good Shepherd where she sang for more than 16 years . She immersed herself in volunteer and non-profit agencies in the Chattanooga area including the Outlook Club and the Friday Morning Study Club where she held many board positions. She was also involved as an election official at the Fairyland Precinct. Patti's energy was unstoppable and she used her financial and accounting acumen at Rock City Gardens in the Financial Department for many years. Taking ideas from the wonderful Festival of Lights at Christmas she fancifully decorated her yard and home and was envied by all her neighbors. Every day was Christmas for "Miss Patti". Her warm and engaging smile and her loyal friendship earned her the love and respect of everyone she knew. She is survived by friends too numerous to list. God called a precious soul from us on July 10, 2015. Her wise words of loving encouragement will be missed by those of us left behind. "Rejoice in the day the Lord has given us, and be glad for it", Psalm 118, was the way Patti Holmes lived her life. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 22, 2015 at 11am in the Memory Gardens of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church , Lookout Mountain with the Reverend Mac Brown officiating. After the service there will be a pot luck lunch at her residence. Please bring a dish to share.
