The first time I met Evelyn and Jerry was in April of 2000. I came to view their beautiful home in St Francis as it was forsale. My husband and I purchased the home in May 2000. We still reside here. I remember Jerry telling me about all of his recent improvements to the house. I only met him and evelyn for that short period of time. But they both gave my husband and I a wonderful start to our life together! Thank you! My condolences to Evelyn and your entire family. May he rest in peace! Thoughts and prayers! God bless!

Jerry was a great person. He was partners with my Dad (Robert Blumenberg) for the longest time. I had the pleasure of knowing his family. I remember when I was in High School and my Dad took me over to there house on Van Beck and there son Mark was there. I had a huge crush on him. I don't think he knew. Well Jerry you are at piece and resting well. You take care of the other Police Officers that are up there with you and keep them safe. Good Bless to the Pieper Family. Sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful Man. Lisa (Blumenberg) & Richard LaBelle, Milwaukee, WI

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear love one and I send my sincere condolences to you and your whole family. Revelation 21:4 is a very beautiful and encouraging scripture, it says: " And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will morning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." What a beautiful promise from our loving God. May the God of peace be with u and your whole family. Sincerely Yours. Brandy Molina

My condolences to Evie and family. Jerry and I started on Police Department in 1966. Were pretty much partners for our whole career, riding squad together, getting into trouble together, etc. Recalled an incident where a fellow was holed up in his house with a gun and we had to get him out (remember, this was before SWAT, etc - if you got the call you had to handle it). We stood on the stoop of his house for about 10 minutes arguing who was going in first (I'd say "Jerry you go first, I've got more senority", he'd say "no you go first, I've got more seniority" - finally ended up going in together without incident). Many other incidents came up which I recall with fondness. Up until my retirement in 1987 due to an injury, we were always there for each other, which kind of fell apart at the end to a disagreement about my retirement....something which I dearly regret as I always respected Jerry as a dedicted cop. He now joins Sgt Wayne Cameron, Det. Keith Wiken, Det Bill Miller, Chief Louie Frank, Juv Off Gary TeKampe, Sgt Terry Bronstad & Off. Ray Rapey - all of whom we worked with over the years. So godspend Jerry, you are now with some great fellow officers and will be missed.

I met Jerry the first time by Rex Evchucks house on Packard Ave when I was 11 years old. Rex and his biker buddies were in the front yard and there was Jerry kicking over and trying to start his bike (A Ducati). I pulled up on my mini bike to see what was going on. After looking at the bike I mentioned to Jerry that there was no gas in the clear gas lines. You can guess the response. My mother immediately came out and told me to come in the house, probably to get me away from the bad influence of the bikers. Anyway I'm now 58 and have ridden bikes since I've been 16. On my bucket list for the last 15 years is buying a Ducati when I hit 60 years. I'll be thinking of Jerry when I get it. I have many other stories and even though I haven't seen him for I while I'll miss him. My deepest sympathies to his family. Craig Vretenar

Evie and family: As a VERY young Blue Knight I absolutely idolized Jerry! Always eager to get a photo of or with him! What a thrill to call Jerry "friend" after our very first meeting in those early days!! I think of you guys from time to time over the years and now have regrets I haven't followed through and looked you up all these years later. :( I'll have a "good thought" for you all in the coming days and look forward to us all hoisting a beverage together when we reunite as members of "Heaven I". (I'm sure Jerry is the new president!!) Hugs and love!! B.K. International Member #2610 (Sobie) WI X Green Bay

I first joined the Blue Knights WI VI in 1987 and first met Jerry and Evie and I found out that Jerry was the one who started our chapter and became the first president. I had many memorable motorcycle trips with Jerry and he rode the first made Blue Knight Special Harley-Davidson motorcycle that is now in display at the Harley-Davidson Museum. My most memorable trip was when we went out for the twentieth anniversary trip to Bangor, Maine in 1994 and we went up through Canada and his motorcycle broke down in Espanola. The next day we tried to place the cycle in the back of a small pick-up truck one of our members had and it was so funny how we did it. Jerry was a good sport about is mishap. I last saw Jerry at the last convention in Hot Springs, Arkansas. His smile reminded me of the great times we had together in our past rides. My thoughts and prayers are for Evie and her family. And so it goes, another one rides up to Heaven One. Julian Gonzalez, Jr.

Imagine if I was given one moment, just a single slice of my past. I could hold it close forever, and that moment would always last. I'd put the moment in a safe, within my hearts abode. I could open it when I wanted, and only I would know the code. I could choose a time of laughing, a time of happiness and fun. I could choose a time that tried me, through everything I've done. I sat and thought about what moment, would always make me smile. One that would always push me, to walk that extra mile. If I'm feeling sad and low, if I'm struggling with what to do. I can go and open my little safe, and watch my moment through. There are moments I can think of, that would lift my spirits everytime. The moments when you picked me up, when the road was hard to climb. For me to only pick one moment, to cherish, save and keep, Is proving really difficult, as I've gathered up a heap! I've dug deep inside my heart, found the safe and looked inside, there was room for lots of moments, in fact hundreds if I tried. I'm building my own little library, embedded in my heart, for all the moments spent with you, before you had to part. I can open it up whenever I like, pick a moment and watch it through, My little library acts as a promise, I'll never ever forget you Bob & Cindy Sampson O'fallon, Missouri

Ev, From the Blue knights L.E.M.C. of Illinois XIII I want to express our deepest sorrow in the loss of one our closest brothers in the Blue Knights Organization. Personally I want to say it has been a pleasure to have Jerry as a friend. Jerry and his wisdom, some times uncanny, was truely an unquie individual. He amazed me many times with his stories. I will surely miss him. Jerry and you became more than brother and sister Blue Knights, you guys became family. You and the family are in our prayers. Tim Sampson Vice President Blue Knights IL. For the first time in many years I find myself at a loss for words to describe the emptiness I feel at the loss of a man who was in so many ways a true Brother. As a Police Officer he was first, someone who trained me. Then a partner with whom we could entrust each others lives (and in doing so the lives of our families). Then as an officer under my command someone who could be counted on to understand implicitly how I would handle any situation were I there in person. And, conversely, someone who I could count on to point out when I was in error. As a man who taught me to ride motorcycles and with whom I had the privilege to ride many thousands of miles to the point where we became almost one "brain" riding two motorcycles. Knowing instinctively what the other was going to do next in any situation. As a friend and confidant with whom I could share every high and low and know that it would be met with the proper mix of sympathy, humor, advise and "liquids" appropriate to make the situation be the best it could. All of this is why we truly called each other "Brother" and why his passing will create a void in me that can never be filled until he and I meet again. To Evie, Mark, Larry, Victor and Lynn: Thank you for sharing. May God comfort you as He welcomes Jerry to the land where we will all meet again. Jim & Ruth

I'm sorry I'm 3 years late. I have been asking what ever happened to Jerry and did some research and found the obit. To his family I'm sorry for your loss. We became riding instructors together and taught many classes together at matc. It was fun to do classes with Jerry. Always had a knack of telling a good story. I had not seen him for years the last time was he had stopped by while I was doing a class when he was in town. A good man that I had a lot of fun with. May he rest in peace riding his bike with a grin. Bill Reik
