Obituary of Kay Lively Hansen

Frances Catherine “Kay” Lively Hansen, 73, of Lookout Mountain passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013. Kay was born in Chattanooga and attended Girl’s Preparatory School. She received a B.A. degree from Centre College of Kentucky; M.A.T. degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and P.D. degree from University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Kay lived and worked in Hawaii, Nevada and Chattanooga. She had a private law practice in Fallon, Nevada. She taught in the bachelor’s and M.B.A. programs for Chapman College and Troy State University at their off-campus center at the Naval Air Station in Fallon, focusing on Business, Personnel, Administrative and Labor Law. After returning to Chattanooga in 1994 she worked at Ruby Falls. Kay was a member of the congregation at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where she was an usher, involved in the Hospitality Ministry, library volunteer, coordinator of Office Volunteers and a volunteer and member of “Compassionate Friends Bereavement and Support Group”. Exceptionally talented in needle work and generous with her gift, she was active in St. Paul’s Knitters, St. Anne’s Guild, St. Claire’s Needlepoint and the ‘Knit Wits’ at Second Presbyterian Church Knitters. Kay was preceded in death by her son Jefferson (Jeff) Christian Hansen; her father, John J. Lively, Jr. and mother, Janet Pound Lively Ledford. Survivors include her daughter, Kaye (Peter) Zimmermann-Nicholson of Thousand Oaks, CA; brother, John (Ruth) Lively of New Haven, CT; brother, Robert Lively of Navarre, FL; grandson, Mason Nicholson and several nephews. The family will welcome friends at 1:00 PM with the memorial service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2013, in St. Paul’s Church, 305 West 7th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402.
