Brownie Carney, 87, of Chattanooga passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012. Mr. Carney was born in Rhea County and was a resident of Chattanooga since 1951. Mr. Carney was a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy in the American, European and Pacific Theaters. He retired from DuPont after many years of service. He was Past Master and Secretary of the John Henry Pierce Lodge #752 F&AM for many years. He was a member of the Chattanooga Scottish Rite, Alhambra Shrine, and the American Legion Summers Whitehead Post 14. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Carney; his mother, Nora Carney; his wife, Faye Garrison Carney; several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Ken) Taylor; granddaughter, Anna Lee Evatt; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. Masonic services will follow the funeral service in the chapel. Interment with military honors will be in Rhea Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-6 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
