Obituary of Donald W. Guffey

Chief Donald W. Guffey, 67, retired United States Navy of Houston, TX and formerly of Soddy-Daisy passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Vitas Hospice Center in Houston. Mr. Guffey grew up in Soddy-Daisy and was the son of Jesse and May Guffey. After retiring from the Navy he moved his family to Houston where they have lived for the past twenty eight years. He also retired from the Baylor College of Medicine in 2011. Survivors include his wife of forty seven years, Nancy Guffey of Houston, TX; daughter, Shelia (Jerry) Howell of Houston, TX; son, Danny (Barbara) Guffey of Richmond, TX; grandsons, Corey Wilson of Houston, TX and Daniel Bunnell of Richmond, TX; brothers, Kenneth (Jewell) Guffey of Soddy-Daisy and Doug (Donna) Guffey of Hixson; half brothers, Adrian, David and Johnny Guffey all of Soddy-Daisy; half sister, Judy Guffey of Soddy-Daisy; much loved brother-in-law, Jackie (Betty) Smith of Soddy-Daisy. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M.on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Melvin Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Smith Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy-Daisy, TN.
