Obituary of Richard Norman Butler

Richard Norman Butler, 79, of Hixson died Monday, January 30, 2012. He was a devoted family man, friend, neighbor, nature enthusiast and member of New Salem Baptist Church. He retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer from the United States Navy, and also retired from TVA as a Quality Assurance Officer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nyleen Butler, son, Mike Butler, and sister, Faye Butler. Survivors include daughters, Linda Butler, Chattanooga, Brenda (Greg Acosta) Madrigal, California; dearest friend, Dot Evans, Hixson; brothers, Robert Greet, Washington, Jimmy Hughey, Mississippi; sisters, Bobbie O'Sheridan, Tennessee, and Nell Reed, Texas; grandchildren, Michele (John Garcia) Brown, California, Celeste (Marquis) Addison, California, Ted Richards, and Laurie Richards, both of Maine; great grandchildren, Keith Garcia, Kierra Garcia, Evelynne Addison, Lily Richards, and Sebastian Richards; special family friend, Mary Bricker-Jenkins. Services will be at 11 A.M. Friday in the chapel with Rev. Alan Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to New Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 9806 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy Daisy, TN 37379. The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M.
