Obituary of Betty Jane Angle

Betty McGhee Angle, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully at her apartment on Sunday, August 28, 2011. She was the daughter of the late James McGhee and Kathryn H. McGhee Bobbitt of Roanoke, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Woodrow W. (Woodie) Angle and son, Robert Michael (Bobby) Angle. Betty is survived by her children, Jimmy (Linda) Angle of Suwanee, Georgia; Suzie (Mitch) Weber of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; Sonny (Robin) Angle of Herndon, Virginia; Becky (Johnnie) Wages of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Mary (Greg) Harris of Norfolk, Virginia. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Alice (Reg) Hutcherson of Roanoke, Virginia; a host of nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Betty was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, where she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945. She loved to play the alto saxophone and participated in the orchestra and marching band. In 1950, she married the love of her life, Woodie Angle, and they brought six beautiful children into this world. Betty relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee in June 2005 after spending 30 years in the Atlanta, Georgia area. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Soddy United Methodist Church, 255 Depot Street, Soddy Daisy TN 37379, where Betty was a member. The Reverend Kenneth Scoggins will officiate. Betty's final resting place will be in Roanoke, Virginia, alongside her husband and son. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of The Terrace at Mountain Creek Road in Chattanooga for the love, care, and concern over the last six years of her life here in Chattanooga, especially the last week of Betty's earthly life. Betty was overwhelmed at the outpouring of love she received from her friends there, and the family will be forever indebted to their kindness.
