Obituary of George Lee Templeton

George Lee Templeton, 87, of Hixson passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 in an area hospital. A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Templeton proudly served our country. He was formerly employed by Chris-Craft Boats and retired from the Hamilton County Board of Education. He was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church. He loved his family, grandchildren, music and his senior friends. Mr. Templeton was preceded in death by his parents, William and Arrie Templeton; brothers, Bob Templeton, Bill Templeton, Jimmy Templeton; and grandson, Sean Cole. Survivors include his wife, Goldie R. Clift Templeton; children, Max (Linda) Templeton and Deana (Mark) Riggs; grandchildren, Jason (Jeni) Templeton, Amy Templeton, Leatha (Jerry) Chambers, Jerry (Mandy) White, Lynn (Amy) White and Megan (Hector) Arocho; and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Hixson First Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Shannon officiating. Mr. Templeton will lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The Ted Winkler Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11:30 AM in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M, Friday July 22, 2011at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Soddy Daisy Senior Citizen Center, 190 Depot St, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379.
