James 'Jim' Burtz Standridge, Jr., 61, of Chattanooga passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Jim was a salesman for Gilman Paints for many years and retired as a courier for Peterbilt, Express Courier and Chattanooga Times Free Press. He was of the Baptist faith, attended Abba's House and served his Lord in many capacities. Jim found joy by doing for others, especially for 'Momma', his loving wife, and his 'Sweet Baby Girls', two special daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Adah Louise Standridge. Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Diane Dunn Standridge, his daughters, Lindy and Laura Standridge; his loving sister, Judy (Howard) Emory; nephew, Chad (Glenda) Emory; sister-in-law, Linda Thornton; niece, Lindsay Thornton and great-niece, Keira Rose. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday in the Legacy Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with a dove release. The family will receive friends on 5-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the James Standridge Memorial Fund. Donations may be made at Legacy Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379.
