Obituary of John Francis Keyes

John Francis Keyes, 78, of Soddy-Daisy passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010. He was born on November 19, 1931 in Waterloo, New York to the Late James L. and Frances E. Keyes. He graduated from Waterloo High School and was a 1953 graduate from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he received his B.S. Degree in Wildlife Management. Mr. Keyes began his career in the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant and retired as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserves, Office of Special Investigations, (OSI). He also served as a civilian in Government Contracting for over 30 years and retired from the Air Force Systems Command, Andrews Air Force Base. He enjoyed his 16 years as a docent at the Tennessee Aquarium and working with the youth at St. Bridget Catholic Church and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis and son, Steven. Mr. Keyes leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Laura; sons, J-Kevin of Waldorf, Maryland; Michael of East Ridge and Daniel of Alexandria, Virginia; granddaughter, Erinn (Phillip) Huckaby; his poodle, Roxanne and numerous friends. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Monsignor Al Humbrecht and Father Mike Creson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home with prayers being held at 7:00 PM.
