Obituary of William Keith Kropp

William Keith Kropp, Jr. died Saturday, May 22 at his home in Hixson with his family after a long illness. He was 83. He was raised on Signal Mountain and attended Baylor School. On his 17th birthday he enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific aboard an LCV. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1984. Following the death of his son, Keith III in 1983 he operated 'Choo Choo Fly and Tackle'. For many years he was a dealer at Gateway Antique Mall. Keith was a willing volunteer for the activities of his children and grandchildren at St. Augustine's, Sts. Peter and Paul, St. Jude and Notre Dame Schools, be it scouts, sports, band and also the CSYO. He was preceded in death by his son, William Keith Kropp, III; parents, William Keith and Frances Hall Kropp and brother, Guion Hall Kropp. Keith is survived by his wife of 59 years, Polly; son, Chris and wife Janet; twin granddaughters, Eva Frances and Effie Caroline all of Knoxville; daughter, Susan Kropp Smith; twin grandsons, Josh Goodlett and wife Lora and Justin Kropp whom he and Polly raised and dearly loved as their own. A graveside service will be in Forest Hills Cemetery on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Monsignor Al Humbrecht officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163. Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Soddy-Daisy, TN.
