Obituary of Grover Cleveland Petty

Grover C. Petty, 88, of Soddy-Daisy passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in a local hospital. Mr. Petty retired from Cavalier Corporation after more than 30 years of service. He was a life-long resident of Soddy-Daisy and was a member of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church. Grover was a very special uncle and dear to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Petty and Hester Morgan Petty; sisters, Helen Wright and Lucille Hodge; brothers, Montague Petty; Walter Reno, Tom Reno and Carl Reno. Survivors include his nieces and nephews who were like his own children, Darlene and Jim Varner; George and Patty Wright; Don and Gayla Wright, Ron and Linda Wright. Additional survivors are his sister, Louise Fuller Green; caregivers, Lois Jones and Nancy Marquez and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday in the Legacy Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Mike Young officiating. Interment will follow in Coleman Cemetery with military honors. Soddy-Daisy Senior Neighbors will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
