Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth Toliver Wright, loving mother and grandmother, passed into the Lord's hands on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, in a local hospital. Ruth was born in Dayton, Tenn., on Nov. 14, 1918 to the late Clarence and Katie Lee Toliver. She was an honor graduate of Rhea County High School and president of her graduating class at William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton. She worked for International Harvester in Chattanooga during World War II and Rhea County in her later years. Ruth was a loving child of God, who maintained her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for her extended family and friends throughout her life. All who knew her will cherish forever her smile, charm and loving character. She was a wonderful and caring mother to her four sons and a loving and devoted wife to her late husband of 63 years, Frank P. Wright. Ruth made an instant impression on everyone she met with her sweet smile, gentle nature and sense of humor. Ruth's brothers Ernest Toliver, William Toliver and Ralph Toliver preceded her into heaven. She will be sadly missed by her surviving sons, Earl W. Wright II, of Knoxville, Robert (Linda) Wright, of Plant City, Fla., Frank Steven Wright, of Red Bank and Carlton E. (Lynn) Wright, of Hixson; her granddaughters, Amanda Wright, of Gainesville, Fla., and Kayleigh Wright, of Hixson; her sister, Shirley Sutton, of Daphne, Ala.; several nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Legacy Funeral Home, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road in Soddy-Daisy. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with interment in Hamilton County Memorial Park. The family wishes to extend our eternal gratitude to the doctors and staff of Memorial North Park second floor ICU and Memorial Hospital SICU. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chattanooga Heart Institute. Arrangements are by locally owned and operated Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy-Daisy.
