Obituary of Ronald Pope Naylor

Ronald Pope Naylor, 77, of Mowbray Mountain's Montlake community left us on Saturday June 27th at his home, surrounded by his family. A native of Montreal, he earned an MLS in Library Science from McGill University. His career in library administration took him to the Universities of Chicago; Houston; Maryland; and Miami, from which he retired as a Professor Emeritus in 1999. In Chattanooga he volunteered for the Signal Mountain Library, the Montlake Homeowner's Association, Tennesseans for Fair Taxation, and the Tennessee Health Care Campaign; he worked part time at the Baylor School Library. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sally Naylor; sons, Dwight Monteith of Austin and Kenneth Naylor of Miami Beach; grandson Maximo Monteith; and sisters Rachel Fletcher, Penelope Henderson, and Gillian Villeneuve. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday June 30, 2009 at the Baylor School Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, Tennesseans for Fair Taxation, the Tennessee Health Care Campaign, or the Baylor School.
