Catherine Maxwell Groves, 88, of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014. She was a lifelong parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul and a Red Cross volunteer at Memorial Hospital for more than 30 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alex C. Maxwell, Jr. and Lillian Steffen Maxwell; and husband, Richard Groves. She is survived by two sons, Stephen Groves, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and David (Betsy) Groves, of Nashville; two grandchildren, Richard (Kaylyn) Groves, of Nolensville, Tenn.; and Katie (Gordon) Maciulewicz, of Cincinnati, Oh.; and two great grandchildren, Mary-Alice and Maxwell Groves, of Nolensville, Tenn; brother, Alex L. (Ann) Maxwell of Greenback, Tenn. Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Friday, September 5, at Wann Funeral Home, with prayer service following. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 6, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul with Father David Carter and Monsignor George Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
