Obituary of Thomas O. Trotter

Thomas O. Trotter, III, 82 of Chattanooga died Saturday, May 3, 2014. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas O. Trotter, Jr. and Clyde Manson Trotter Tinkess; uncle, Tim Manson; and aunt, Ellen Manson. He graduated from Baylor School in 1950. He graduated from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity, in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts. He entered the United States Army in 1954. He had a long career with Provident Life and Accident in the home office in Chattanooga. Thomas was active in the community having served as vice president of the Chattanooga Jaycees. Dad was the Atlanta Falcons true #1 fan who started rooting for them in 1966 and was a season ticket holder for 20 years. Dad also stayed active in alumnae rolls at the University of Virginia. Dad retired to Cumming, GA in early 1980 and started fishing out of a canoe and swimming in Lake Lanier. In 2012 Dad moved back to Chattanooga where he enjoyed watching old movies and shows, and being with his children. We would like to thank everyone who worked or took care of Dad at the Soddy Daisy Healthcare. He was loved there and he loved everyone. Survivors include his son, Thomas Francis (Pam) Trotter, Soddy Daisy; daughter, Carol Lyn Trotter, Harrisburg, PA; and cousins, Taylor Manson Watson and Tim Manson. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7:30 PM Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Wann Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Make a Wish Foundation, 510 S Willow St, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
