Obituary of James Vernon Woody

James Vernon Woody, 82, of Spring City and formerly of Soddy-Daisy passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Mr. Woody was retired from the construction industry and was a member of Dayton Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Woody; sons, James A. Woody and Fred L. Woody. Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Valentine; grandchildren, James C. Valentine, Jason W. Valentine, Jennifer Valentine, Robert H. Phillips, Lisa Valentine, Jenna Valentine, and David Woody; great-grandchildren, Brandon Valentine, Jordan Valentine, Brian Phillips, Elyssa Phillips, Cameron Phillips, Megan Valentine, Courtney Valentine, and Haley Valentine. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Mike Justice and the Reverend and Honorable Clarence Shattuck officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3-9 PM on Friday and from 12 noon until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
